A watch is one of the rare pieces of jewelry that combines beauty and functionality. Since there are a lot of different models and designs, and watches also come in a huge variety of prices, every watch tells a lot about its wearer’s taste. Prices for certain watches can easily reach up to millions of dollars, for example nice Patek Philippe watches. For both sexes it is true that they shouldn’t leave home without a nice watch that underline its wearer’s character and personality. For women a slender and well-crafted watch is amongst the things they just need for a stylish and beautiful outfit, right next to jewelry like earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings. Since men are pretty much restricted in their choice of accessories and jewelry, a nice watch is something every man should own. Not only does a high-quality-watch look good on every wrist but it also serves its original purpose. It’s always good to have a second option of learning what time it is in case one’s mobile phone runs out of power.

The right watch for the right price

Finding the right watch, however is not always easy, since there are so many different brands and styles available in so many different stores. A further problem can be the fact that well-crafted watches can be pretty pricy. Spending too little money on a watch is no option either since you are guaranteed to learn that it won’t last for long. A good option is to look on the internet since it’s possible to buy many pre-owned watches in good quality for a fraction of their retail prices. Just take your time when you are loking for a new watch and you’ll be sure to find just the right one sooner or later.

The consumer electronics goods includes all the electrical equipment/appliances used daily and is generally used for the user’s entertainment, the house and the office. Among the products under the category of consumer electronics are the computers, GPS car navigation system, televisions, the mobile phones, the MP3 players, audio materials, calculators, video players and recorders, such as DVD, VHS or camcorder.

Innovations

Each year, the industry pioneers exhibit and talk about the latest models of appliances during the international fair for electronics goods, which takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada. One of the main features of consumer electronics is that the prices of such commodity gradually become lower. This is due to improved manufacturing efficiency, the auto engineering , low cost of labor (as its production is usually relocated to countries with lower wages), and improvements in the semiconductor.

Buying electronic goods

It is becoming more and more necessary to update and compare each product’s information, so that the consumer can purchase it knowingly. The variables that have the most influence on whether a decision is more dependent on ‘style and price’, rather than the ‘specificity and performance’ of the product. This convergence of technologies reduces the variety of items that can be offered, and increases recognition of the manufacturer within the company.

The vast majority of products of consumer electronics have planned obsolescence , which means e-waste. It is estimated that in 2003 the U.S. generated more than 2.8 million tons of electronic waste from which only 10% was successfully recovered (reused or recycled).

For those of you who wish to produce and display the art of electronic goods in your homes as well, might also like the wall stickers which can be flexibly put on every wall. A huge majority of pictures of electronic goods – for example guitars – can decorate rooms and add an electronic flair to flats and houses.

The worldwide history of cosmetics has changed greatly along the past centuries. Even though nowadays it is an industry worth more than $50 billion, its origins are quite far from this. Actually, it initially only included facial enhancements and started in the 4th century BC.

The world nowadays produces a large number of cosmetics for both men and women as well as teens and pre-teens of both sexes. Those range from general make-up, skin masks and hair dye among others. It is now actually not unusual to see children as young as 5 with dyed hair. The influence of cosmetics on some people’s life is so big that they cannot imagine being seen without make-up.

Origins

At the 1st century, not without risk to their health, Nero and Poppea thinned their skin with white lead oxide ( lead , very toxic ) and chalk , highlighted their eyes with kohl (containing poisonous lead) and enhanced their complexion and their lips with red cinnabar (when it was toxic ). With returns from the Crusades that makeup seems to have spread into Northern Europe from the 14th century, the nobles availing themselves of cream of foundation, dyeing their hair and perfuming themselves. It was only from the 18th century that cosmetics were used in all social classes.

Over time, the cosmetics have varied patterns and available raw materials. Some recipes such as the cold cream of Galen are still used today, while other, such as the urine mouthwashes have been abandoned. Some very dangerous products for health (including the famous white lead, main factor in lead poisoning ) were nevertheless widely used, until the beginning of the 19th century. Back then most cosmetics in Europe and North America contain lead.

Of all beauty accessories, jewelry rank at the top. Every body the world over has an extraordinary fascination for these lovely items that enhance beauty. Cultivating individual tastes about looks is something of an obsession and these splendid items serve that purpose well. Many magnificent and dazzling products litter the jewelry market. For this reason, care and caution must be put at the fore front when purchasing them because apart from authentic items with high aesthetic value that command high prices, there are imitation pieces that can pass for genuine jewelry. So to avoid ending up with a highly priced fake item it is important to consult an expert for professional opinion. Jewelry comes in a variety of shapes, styles, designs and quality. They can be classified according to the kind of gemstone they are made from, where they originate from, their sentimental value, their prices, but most importantly their age and symbolic significance.

Antique Style Jewelry

These are items of choice that are preferred in the realms of delicate and highly refined tastes. In life, for instance, marriage marks an important turning point. This is a special and significant event that is often remembered for long after it has taken place. Sometimes a personal detail like the kind of jewelry won by different people in a wedding can be a matter of nostalgia and passion for such a long time. Romantic antique style wedding or engagement rings are much preferred due to their amazing gorgeous patterns, designs and high quality. They have the power to transform feelings from just ordinary emotions to a sense of adoration. They have the quality of eliciting blossoming and undiluted joy and happiness. A careful search will reveal a vast and wonderful collection of vintage antique jewelry that date from as early as the 14th Century. These are priceless collectors’ items that are very precious and rare

Imitation Jewelry

Although looking fabulous and glamorous is a universal preoccupation, when it comes to real and authentic jewelry, their prices are far too high. Not many people can afford them. That is why in the market there are exclusive replicas of original pieces from as early as the Edwardian period. Although these are not made from natural gemstones, they however have the power to add sparkle and brilliance to a person’s look just like the genuine articles. Such pieces of jewelry can be ordered to specification from skilled jewelers who can use stone of different sizes, quality, weight; or even synthetic materials to make classical looking items that are not so far different from original pieces. There are both Art Deco and Art Nouveau designs that are really magnificent and eye-catching. Such jewelry is of heirloom quality and they have a magical touch.

It is indeed very challenging to point out the difference between genuine ad fake jewelry because all have sleek finish lines as a result of high quality workmanship. They have classic elegance and charm in their designs. Almost all jewelry have fine quality accented with an array of constellation-like rare stones.

For a woman, a dress is much more that a mere piece of clothing. It needs to be comfortable, look nice and be well-fitted. It is an obvious fact that all women do not have the same body type. Thus it should be just as obvious that different women will have different dresses fit them perfectly. One dress could look bad on one woman and great on another. Also, different dresses will be suitable for different situations and events. A dress worn to go to a party would not look good during church or when dining out with friends.

History of the shirt dresses

One of the most popular dresses worn by women is the shirt dress which normally has short sleeves, s shirt collar as well as a button bodice usually attached to the skirt or separated from it by a self belt. Shirt dresses featuring knee-length short skirts started to be worn largely in the 1950‘s.

Shirt dresses nowadays are still popular but except in rare cases, no longer harbor a crinoline. Those are usually worn for work or during church, along with scarves.

Other types of dresses

Another popular type of dress is sheath dress, usually fall right above the knees, are form-fitting and strapless or sleeveless. There are often worn along with oversized pearl jewelry and elbow-length gloves. Also, sheath dresses are known for their versatility and flexibility, thus being suitable to be worn at night.

There is also the sundress, mostly worn during summer and harboring floral prints and bright colors and featuring halter tops. They are perfect when going to the beach or when dining out casually. They however do not look great with accessories.

A coat is a garment that is longer than the hips (unlike the vest or jacket ). It is worn over other clothes to protect from the elements. It opens in front, the sleeves are long and it sometimes has a hood. The materials also vary greatly depending on the use attributed to the coats. It can be worn by both men and women, although the cuts in women’s coats are different from those of men‘s coats.

History of coats

Before the vocation of a purely functional protection from the weather the coat knows today, it was previously used to establish one’s social position. Thus in ancient Rome, the citizen wore coats to differentiate themselves from slaves. In the Middle Ages , only nobles of the royal court were allowed the privilege of wearing the coat. It remained reserved for the nobility up till the 15th century and then gradually became a popular garment.

The coat will be overshadowed by the vest at the beginning of 19th century to gradually return to fashion from the middle of the century in various forms in particular as removable cloaks. The first fur coats only appeared in 1893.

Types of coats

There is a large variety of cloaks available on the market, the most popular ones being the caban, a blue coat characteristic of the Royal Navy, the chesterfield coat with hidden buttons, the Canadian coat, thicker coat which serves to keep the wearer warm, the waxed raincoat worn by sailor, the duffle coat, thick and with a broad hood, the waterproof coat with specific materials to protect against the rain and the Macfarlane, long coat with no handle and fitted with a cape among others.

A boot is a short of long shoe that protects the foot up to a certain height that depending on what it is being used for: up to the calf, to the knee or until the thigh. It held a crucial role in clothing, mostly for plastic rain boots snow after-ski boots.

Initially, boots were men accessories used to protect pants from mud and other dirtying materials, mostly while they were working. The length of thigh boots were essential to preserve the pants, worn prematurely due to friction on the saddle of the horse. Nowadays boots are a major women’s fashion accessory.

The thigh, elegant accessory

The initial vulgar thigh boots opened the way for the all new generation of boots designed by the popular clothes designers. After a noticed comeback, sexy, usually worn with a miniskirt, boots drove crowds crazy. Several personalities have thus appeared in a miniskirt and thigh boots, for example Diane Kruger, who was attributed the title of the "model of elegance" in March 2005.

In 1801, a creation of Jacquard loom helped to obtain cheaper quality tissues, which led to the creation of under knee boots. It was only during the winter 1963-that boots rose again, but among women this time. This clothing style was originally criticized until the boom of women’s fashion boots during 1967 and 1970.

Fashion miniskirt/long boots

The song These Boots Are Made for Walkin’, of Nancy Sinatra became a symbol of the emancipation of women during in 1965, and launched the fashion of miniskirt and boots among teen and college girls.

Nowadays there is a large variety of boots for women, at different sizes and made from different materials such as leather or fur.

The KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens), or “Department Store of the West’’ in English, is a 7 floor edifice in Berlin that once symbolized the restoration of the then West Germany’s economic power. On a less palatable note, it was at one time seen as an emblem of the disparity in material prosperity between West and East Berlin. But that is no longer of significance. A lot of water has since flowed under the bridge. From the mid 70s to date a record breaking number of people have gone through the store.

Like Harrods, which it is only second to in the entire Western Europe, this magnificent piece of architecture has its floors departmentalized with each one specializing on a different type of merchandise. It has a floor uniquely named the “Luxury Boulevard’’ where shops are owned by top designer names like Channel, Cartires, Loius Vuitton, Monblanc, Bulgari and Dior. Every category of service or merchandise is independently situated on its own floor. The 7th and 8th floors cater specifically for food which is popularly touted as “two football fields of food’’. The amazing food hall offers the best gourmet food and wine, with the gourmet palace having peculiar drink sections, for instance, superb tea stalls, and a Moet and Chandon Champagne bar.

Best and Favorite Features

On the top floor there is a winter garden featuring a restaurant surrounded by an all windowed wall enabling a view of the Wittenbergplatz. However, due to high security measures, taking pictures here is forbidden. A random rundown of other features include: small shops with extraordinary products with something on offer for everyone. There is so much that making a choice becomes as complex as a chess game, chic fashion designs, picturesque cafes and restaurants, splendid architecture and a grand exterior. In short, it is the equivalent of any other famous shopping center in the world.

This is not a myth, but the Mall of America in Minneapolis is reputed to attract over 40 million visitors a year. This is more than can be said for the total number of those who visit the Grand Canyon, Walt Disney World and Graceland put together. Just what lies behind the magnetism?

Well, first it is like a city within a city. At over 4 million square feet and more than 10,000 employees, several restaurants, stores, showrooms and warehouses; plus numerous displays and attractions of all sorts, the place must surely be as attractive to shoppers and holiday makers as moths are drawn to light.

Prompt Information and Quick Accessibility

Perhaps its popularity can also be accounted for by a well choreographed system of up to-date information on what cooks. Its website is regularly updated, and on the home page there is a free information kit that will answer all the questions a potential customer might have. It is also easy to get an inside scoop on sales and events from a free electronic newsletter or from the guest information service. But with such amenities as night clubs, the Underwater Adventure Aquarium, several movie theaters, a flight simulation center and the Dinosaur Museum amongst others, surely, why begrudge it this wave of popularity? What’s more is that there is an intensive expansion program going on even at present. Can anything beat that?
